Cosmic Insights: When Will T.O.P Do Something?
T.O.P watching his billionaire friend fall out the sky while I check for an album release date, 2025
Despite never really liking BigBang’s music or their members I’ve always had a soft spot for V.I.Ps. There’s not many left in the same way that there’s not many WWII soldiers left but when you see one in the wild they’re always fighting against historical revisionist propaganda spread by 4th gen K-pop stans. V.I.Ps really do so much work for the few of us in K-pop who aren’t mentally incapacitated so today I would like to give back to the V.I.P community by helping them investigate one of the most pressing matters in their fandom: Why is T.O.P being like this?
I received this submission from someone I like, which is why it took me 10 whole days to do this instead of my usual month and a half. Because I like flwr (they are always enabling me and my delusions) and because I am also somewhat curious about T.O.P (the Doom Dada video made me feel very cool for getting all the references when I was younger), I noted the time and date immediately for maximum accuracy. If this is wrong anyway, well, that’s just another way T.O.P has evaded the stars.

The ascendant is in 28 degrees of Gemini, this is already significant. Whenever the ascendant is in a late degree (25-29), this is taken as a sign that the matter has already concluded and nothing more can be done. This could mean that T.O.P has already finished up his album, it could also mean he has already given up. To determine T.O.P's state of mind we track where the planet that rules Gemini sits. Mercury is in Virgo where it is happiest. It’s in the 4th house which is the house of the home. We can take this to mean that T.O.P is sitting in his penthouse in his bathrobe, he’s feet are up on a fancy ottoman designed by one of his cool art friends, and he’s watching himself on Netflix.
However, things aren’t as good as they seem. The sun is about 2 and a half degrees away from Mercury. Whenever a planet is too close to the sun, it’s said to be combust, the sun’s rays burn it up and it can no longer function as it usually does. Mercury is often combust because it’s the planet closest to the Sun (...and they say astrology isn’t a real science). In this chart, Mercury is in Virgo and the conjunction between it and the Sun is separating, meaning Mercury has already gone through the worst and is now escaping the sun’s rays. T.O.P is comfortable at home, yes, but there was just a fire in his kitchen and the aircon wasn’t working all summer, so things haven’t been all that great.
The Sun which has been afflicting Mercury rules the 3rd and 4th Houses (Mercury sits in Virgo in the 4th but if you look closely, the 4th actually starts in Leo). We know the 4th is the home, so what is the 3rd? The 3rd is communication, siblings, commutes, exciting stuff like that. T.O.P has been overwhelmed by the little things in life, his artsy fartsy family might have been getting on his nerves. He hasn’t been able to express himself or his struggles clearly, but lucky for T.O.P and his remaining 20 solo fans (I heard V.I.Ps were getting tired of him) things are looking up.
Mercury is about a degree away from the 5th house. The house of pleasure, creativity, gambling and children. Let’s just focus on that second one. A planet so close to the next house and in the same sign as the next house is counted as being in two houses. T.O.P is at home but he’s also in the studio (or the casino, or the kindergarten… or the room salon). He’s engaged in elegant pursuits but how do we know if these pursuits are music or just the art dealing he usually spends most of his time on?
We finally turn to the 10th House of the career and publicity. The 10th house is in Aquarius which is ruled by Saturn and Saturn is not in a position that would make T.O.P happy. It is, however, in a position that would make most V.I.Ps happy. Saturn is retrograde which is usually unfortunate but in this case it shows a return to a vocation he once had. A planet in retrograde retraces all the steps it once took and goes back to what is familiar. Saturn here has retrograded out of Aries, where it suffers since Aries is an impulsive sign whereas Saturn by nature is slow and calculated, and moved back into Pisces. Saturn is still lost in Pisces but it is much preferable to it being in Aries. T.O.P was in unfamiliar territory but now he is returning to somewhere he has already been. This could mean he unblocks Yang Hyunsuk and agrees to do a reunion project with BigBang but right now we will just take it as proof that he is indeed returning to music.
Just like Mercury, Saturn is also in-between two houses, the 10th which is career as we just discussed and the 11th which is friends. T.O.P isn’t just going back to work that is familiar but friends who he’s lost contact with. Isn’t that adorable? The BigBang ahjussis are gonna have a big barbeque and reminisce about the old days. If we look at the ruler of the 11th, Jupiter, we find that it’s in great condition and we see that it is in the 2nd which is the house of personal possessions and money. So, YG will book the restaurant, pay for the Ubers, foot the barbeque bill and send everyone home with a stuffed envelope but that doesn’t make it any less adorable!
None of this will happen easily, though. Mercury and Saturn are almost exactly opposite each other, Mercury only needs to move a single degree forward to fully stand opposite Saturn. The issue is, it also needs to move a single degree forward to fully be in the 5th house of creativity. Oppositions in astrology point to difficulties as well as regret. He could return to music and BigBang only to remember exactly why he decided to leave it all. But right now to his fans, all that matters is that this chart shows clear testimony that he will return. Because Mercury and Saturn are one degree apart (as well as Mercury and the Moon), we give him 1 unit of time to get his act together. In a year, BigBang will prepare for their 20th anniversary, his return to music could be then but it could also be that he releases his album in a month. Could is the keyword here. Poor T.O.P stans are always getting promised things that will never come, if this prediction joins that list, at least it will be in fitting company.
